NOTICE OF RACE
Royal Danish Yacht Club (RDYC) in conjunction with the Farr 40 European Fleet Association cordially invites entries to the DEXIA Farr 40 Skagen 2007 Race to be sailed on the waters of Skagen, Denmark. The Organizing Authority (OA) is Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub , (The Royal Danish Yacht Club) (KDY).
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the following rules:
- Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008 (RRS)
- Farr 40 One Design Class Rules
- This Notice of Race and the Notice of race of the European Circuit
- The Sailing Instructions and any amendments thereto.
1.2 Yachts shall comply with the 2006-2007 ISAF Offshore Special Regulations, Category 4 and
Appendix 3 of the Farr 40 Class Rules. In the event of conflict, designer and manufacturers
original standards shall prevail.
1.3 RRS 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that, except for breaches of Part 2 that occur within two boat lengths of a rounding- or finishing mark, only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.
1.4 Video and/or photographs taken from any support and/or coach boat shall not be used as
evidence at protest hearings. This changes RRS 63.6
1.5 The maximum amount of drinkable liquid aboard each yacht shall not exceed six liters per person per day. This liquid is included in the restrictions for movable ballast in RRS 51.
2 ADVERTISING
2.1 The forward part of the hull on each side of all participating boats may only display advertising chosen and required to be displayed by the organizer in accordance with ISAF regulation 20.3(d)(i).
2.2 Bow numbers may be required
3 ELIGIBILITY
The regatta is open to all Farr 40 Class yachts as defined by the Class Rules. Owners and
Charterers shall be current members of the Farr 40 Class Association, Members of the European Fleet Association and approved by the Farr 40 Class Eligibility Review Committee, and be a member of a yacht or sailing club affiliated with an ISAF National Authority. Overseas owners are kindly requested to ask for a guest membership of the Farr 40 European Fleet (pirina@farr40.net).
4 ENTRY AND REGISTRATION
4.1 Eligible boats may enter on the website www.farr40.kdy.dk and issue an entry form as well as pay for the registration.
4.2 Crew lists and ISAF Sailor User IDs for all crew, along with designation of alternate, relief or
substitute helmsmen are due upon registration..
4.3 Registration will be completed with the OA as described below. Sail declarations may be made on site during registration. By July11th, 2007, 1700 hours, all boats shall have complied with the following:
(a) Complete Registration with OA, including fees;
(b) Entry Form and 2007 One Design Certificate on file with the OA;
(c) Owner and Charterer Class Membership Dues for 2007 paid and on file with OA;
(d) Skipper and crew weighing complete and liability waivers signed and on file with the OA;
(e) Sail Declaration form on file with the OA;
(f) Measurement forms complete and on file with the OA;
(g) Crew classification declared and verifi ed on the Sail/Crew Declaration form, and on file with the OA;
(h) All owners, tacticians and boat captains shall be required to sign Appendix 10 stating that their boat fully complies with Class Rules and that they will abide by said Class Rules while racing.
5 FEES
5.1 Required fee is € 750 plus bank charges and transfer fees.
5.2 The entry fee includes berthing at the docks at Skagen
5.3 Late entries, accompanied by a late entry fee of € 1.300 may be accepted at the discretion of the OA.
6 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

6.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 12:00 hours.
6.5 No warning signal will be given after 15:00 hours on the last scheduled day of racing.
7 MEASUREMENTS AND INSPECTION
Random yacht and equipment inspections may be conducted prior to and after each daily race
to check for compliance with Class Rules, NOR 1.7 and the 2006-2007 ISAF Offshore Special
Regulations, Category 4.
8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
9 COURSES AND RACING AREA
9.1 Courses will be defined in the Sailing Instructions.
10 PENALITES
10.1 RRS 44.1 and 44.2 are changed as described in NOR 1.5.
10.2 The penalty, if any, for any breaches of the rules (including the Class Rules and ISAF Offshore Special Regulations, Category 4) other than RRS Part 2 is at the sole discretion of the International Jury in consultation with the Class representative, and may be other than disqualification. This changes RRS 64.1.
10.3 Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in rule 70.4.
11 SCORING
11.1 Each yacht’s score shall be the total of all her races scores with no discards.
11.2 A maximum of 8 races are scheduled.
12 PRIZES
12.1 A trophy to the skipper of the winning boat.
12.2 A trophy to the skipper of the top Scandinavian boat (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden).
12.3 Prizes to skippers of the first 1/3 of the fleet.
12.4 Daily first prizes.
13 DOCKAGE
13.1 All yachts shall be docked at the Race Center at Skagen Harbour. Dockage is available from July 9th, at 10.00.
13.2 Yachts competing in the DEXIA Farr 40 Skagen 2007 Race shall be docked at the Race Center no later than July 11 at 17:00. All yachts shall continue to be berthed at the Race Center through the end of racing.
14 SUPPORT BOATS
14.1 Competitors’ attention is drawn to the applicable Class Rules and Interpretations.
14.2 Media boats shall register with the OA.
15 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
Yachts may not be hauled out after July 11 at 16.00 until the end of the regatta without the prior written permission of the International Jury, and under such terms as they may decide.
Normally such permission will be granted only if necessary to repair damage. Bottoms and foils
cannot be sanded, polished, washed or worked on in any way except in area of repair. Hulls may be cleaned in the water.
16 RADIO COMMUNICATION
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
17 MEDIA AND MEDIA RIGHTS/RESTRICTIONS
17.1 In the event of a television production, the OA may request the installation of onboard video cameras at no cost to the competitors.
17.2 By entering this regatta, the owner (or charterer) and crew members of the competing yacht:
a. grant, at no cost, RDYC, the Farr 40 Class Association and the Farr 40 European Fleet Management Group, the absolute right and permission to use their name, voice, image, likeness, biographical material as well as representations of the yachts in any media (being television, print and internet media, including video) and ;
b. footage, for the sole purposes of advertising, promoting, reporting and disseminating
information regarding the Farr 40 Nordic Championship and the competitors and crew members’ participating in the regatta.
17.3 Entrants and crew members shall acknowledge and accept the media rights referred to in this paragraph 17 on the entry form and the disclaimer and acknowledgement of rights form,
respectively.
18 DISCLAIMER
18.1 All those taking part in the race do so at their own risk and responsibility. Each crew member:
a. acknowledges and accepts the risks (including the risk of harm to persons and property and
the risks associated with the perils of the sea and the seaworthiness of any boat) associated
with participation in this regatta and waives all rights against and releases RDYC and the Farr 40
Class Association, the Farr 40 European Fleet Management Group and their respective officers, employees, volunteers and members in respect of any loss of life or injury to persons, or loss of or damage to property, suffered in connection there with;
b.acknowledges that participation in this regatta by him or her is on the basis that participation is entirely at his or her risk and responsibility and that the KNS and the Farr 40 Class Association, the Farr 40 European Fleet Management Group and their respective officers, employees, volunteers and members are not responsible for any boat or its crew.
18.2 Specific attention is drawn to RRS Fundamental Rule 4, which states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”
18.3 All competitors shall acknowledge this by signing a disclaimer and acknowledgment of rights form, as supplied by the Organizing Authority.
19 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of € 1.500.000 per event or the equivalent
